Bopara half-century helps Chitwan set Pokhara a target of 162 runs

Chitwan Rhinos gives the target of 162 runs to Pokhara Avengers in ongoing NPL.

In the Nepal Premier League (NPL), Chitwan Rhinos set a target of 162 runs for Pokhara Avengers on the back of Ravi Bopara’s half-century.

Pokhara won the toss and elected to field at the Tribhuvan University Ground in Kirtipur, and after batting first, Chitwan scored 161 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

English batter Bopara scored 51 runs in 38 balls for Chitwan. He hit three fours and a six each.

Chitwan did not open well. Opening batter Deepak Bohara was bowled by Bipin Khatri in the first over for 2 runs.

Opener Hasan Ishakhil also scored 14 runs in 10 balls, hitting 1 four and 1 six, before being caught by wicketkeeper Dilip Nath on the same ball by Bipin.

Then, Luke Benckenstein was out for 16 runs. He was dismissed by Pokhara’s Dutch bowler Bas de Liede.

Chitwan’s innings moved forward after a 56-run partnership between captain Kushal Malla and Ravi Bopara.

Kushal scored 38 runs off 23 balls, with the help of 1 four and 4 fours, before being caught by Sagar Dhakal in the 14th over.

After Bopara was dismissed in the 16th over, Sohil Tanvir was caught LBW by Bas de Liedde in the next over. Santosh Karki was also dismissed for 11 runs off 13 balls.

Amarsingh Rateula scored 13 runs not out and Sharad Veshwakar scored 11 runs not out. Chitwan could only score 34 runs after losing 3 wickets in the last five overs.

Pokhara’s Bipin Khatri, Bas de Liedde and Raymond Reifer took 2 wickets each.
