Pokhara Avengers defeated Biratnagar Kings in the Super Over in the Siddhartha Bank Nepal Premier League (NPL).

This is Pokhara’s second win in the fifth match. Biratnagar, on the other hand, has lost four out of five matches. With four defeats, Biratnagar is on the verge of being eliminated from the league stage.

In the first Super Over of the NPL, Andres Gauss and Raymond Reifer batted for Pokhara, who batted first. Biratnagar captain Sandeep Lamichhane was the bowler. In which Reifer hit sixes in the first two balls. The third ball was a dot. The fourth ball was a four. Reifer took one run in the fifth ball. Gauss took one run in the sixth ball. Pokhara added 18 runs in the Super Over.

Martin Guptill and Nicholas Kirton were batting for Biratnagar, who were given a target of 19 runs in the Super Over. Pokhara’s Reifer was the bowler. Guptill managed to take one run in the first ball, even though he swung the bat. Kirton took one run in the second ball. Guptill could only take one run in the third ball. The fourth ball was a dot. Kirton took one run in the fifth ball. Then the ball was wide. Guptill could not take any runs in the sixth ball, and Biratnagar could only add 5 runs in the super over.

Before that, the game went to the super over after both teams added 139-139 runs in 20 overs.

While chasing the target of 140 runs, Biratnagar’s Pratish GC bowled Pokhara’s Michael Leaks for 11 runs in the 19th over, and the game took an exciting turn.

Pokhara needed 14 runs to win in the last over. Raymond Reifer and Narayan Joshi were batting. Bashir Ahmed came in to bowl. Naranay could not take a run in the first ball. He took one run in the second ball. Reifer hit a six in the third ball. The fourth ball was a dot. The fifth ball was also a dot. The score of both teams was tied after the last ball was hit for a six. Reifer scored 34 runs in 23 balls.

For Pokhara, opener Andres Gauss scored 39 runs. He hit 7 fours in 27 balls. Another opener Dinesh Kharel was out for 11 runs.

Kharel was out after an opening partnership of 47 runs. Both Kharel and Gauss were dismissed by Biratnagar’s left-hander Pratish GC. GC also bowled Pokhara’s Jan Malinga for 4 runs.

Pokhara captain Kushal Bhurtel was out for 31 runs. He was dismissed by Biratnagar’s Chris Soul and was caught LBW by Tritaraj Das on the next ball.

In the bowling, Biratnagar’s Pratish GC took 4 wickets and Chris Soul took 2 wickets.

Batting first, Biratnagar scored 139 runs for the loss of 7 wickets after winning the toss in the first match of the day at the Tribhuvan University Ground in Kirtipur on Thursday.

Scott Edwards, who made his debut for Biratnagar, scored the highest score of 45 runs. Dutch captain Edwards hit 5 fours in 35 balls in his first match of the NPL. He was caught lbw by Pokhara captain Kushal Bhurtel in the 19th over.

Before that, opener Lokesh Bam scored 26 runs. He hit 2 fours and 2 sixes in 16 balls before being caught by Raymond Reifer in the last ball of the powerplay.

Another opener, Martin Guptill, was out for 5 runs. Guptill was bowled by Pokhara’s Sagar Dhakal in the fifth over.

Naren Bhatt could only score 4 runs. He was caught by Dinesh Kharel off Sagar. Nicholas Kirton was also dismissed by Sagar. Kirton scored 19 runs in 16 balls before being dismissed in the 13th over.

On the first ball of the last over, Reifer had Biratnagar’s Chris Soul caught by Bipin Khatri for 7 runs. Deepak Bohra was run out even when he was wide on the fourth ball. Biratnagar’s Basheed Ahmed scored 21 not out and Pratish GC scored 4 not out.

Pokhara’s Sagar Dhakal and Reifer took 2 wickets each in the bowling. Sagar gave away 15 runs in 4 overs and Reifer gave away 33 runs.
